A NATO summit, the war machine of imperialism, is planned to be held in Ankara in July. To silence the many revolutionary institutions in Turkey that are raising their voices against this imperialist center, the religious, fascist Turkish government is increasingly resorting to repression. As if the arrests and attacks of the last few days before the imperialist NATO summit weren’t enough, yesterday morning, raids were carried out on the homes of revolutionary institutions and their members, and dozens of people were detained. Progressive groups, who were not even allowed to meet with their lawyers for the first 24 hours, are expected to face long-term detention, house arrest, and travel bans, just as has been done to tens of thousands of others.
The religious, fascist Turkish government, a loyal collaborator of imperialist NATO, is trying to prove itself to the imperialists in this way. However, it is very well known that the people of Turkey harbor a strong anger against NATO imperialism. And it is impossible to suppress this anger with such fascist repression.
Peoples all over the world are raising their voices against this imperialist center, which is gathering to plan wars to commit new crimes against humanity. Just like the revolutionaries, anti-fascists, anti-imperialists, socialists, and democrats who have come together under the banner of the “Anti-NATO and Anti-Imperialist War Union” in Turkey, we, as anti-imperialist sections living in Cyprus, join this voice. As Cypriot revolutionaries, we declare our solidarity with the detained youth, women, revolutionaries, and trade unionists, and we all shout in unison, “No passage for imperialism!” The oppression and attacks of the imperialists and their collaborators cannot deter the workers, laborers, and revolutionaries from their path.
All imperialist centers will be dismantled, and a war-free, exploitation-free order, socialism, will be established!
